Peeple (mobile application)
Peeple is an unreleased mobile application that plans to allow people to leave reviews〔 and ratings (on a scale of 1 to 5 stars) for other people.
The company was founded in April 2014 by Nicole McCullough and CEO, Julia Cordray.
The company's plans for their app were announced in September 2015, and received widespread criticism over concerns of bullying and harassment. By late October, the service had been redesigned as "opt-in", so that people could only be rated if they had registered with the service.〔 Users would also have the option to veto reviews they disliked, with negative reviews never becoming visible without the subject's permission.
As of September 2015, the app was set to launch in late November 2015.〔 As of November 2015, the app launch date was further delayed until mid-December 2015 or January 2016 for the iPhone version and an Android version for the first-half of 2016.〔http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/252542〕 The company announced having received a $50,000 grant from an unnamed government organization,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD0HjQk4ItY )〕 and plans to generate revenue by charging users to perform more than one search per day.
